Measuring the local weather on a farm at Spalford in Tasmania's north west(ABC Rural: Meg Powell)

For the last year, a private, hyper-local weather station network has been springing up across Northern Tasmania, from King Island to the East Coast and down to Bothwell.

It was intended for farmers, but the network of now 39 stations has been generating so much useful data that it's even caught the eye of the Tasmanian Fire Service

It's so far been scraped together by various funding arrangements and private owners.

Ag Logic's Marek Matuszek can tell us more about it.
