Huge new potato storage sheds for Simplot

Do you remember the infamous chip shortage of 2022, when take away outlets had no fried and supermarket freezers lay bare for months?

It was partly due to wet weather and unsuitable spuds for processing. 

To mitigate crop losses after harvest, Simplot have invested $41 million dollars in two high tech long-term storage sheds at Powranna, and they are ready for the 2024 harvest.

Les Murdoch is the Director of Raw Procurement for Asia Pacific for Simplot, and he explained to Claire Burbury what the investment will do for the potato industry and farmers
