How the Matildas revived women's soccer in Muswellbrook(ABC Upper Hunter: Bindi Bryce)

2023 really has been the year of the Matildas.

They've left a long shadow over the game of soccer, inspiring so many people across the country. Part of that inspiration has been seen already in "the Matildas effect" - more women and girls signing up to play soccer as a social sport.

In Muswellbrook, they've been able to run a women's juniors side for the first time in five years. But for all the love of the game, there are still barriers to getting girls in rural and regional Australia onto the field.
