For years the Bass Strait has been blasted and drilled by multinational companies, hoping to make a buck out of the precious energy sources buried under the sea floor.
Boaters, environmentalists, surfers and fishers in particular have repeatedly raised their voices in concern for how the activities might affect their livelihoods
But say they feel powerless against the might of enormous overseas companies, and a perceived lack of support from the Australian government.
